Flights & Inter-Island Transport

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is Bali’s only airport and one of Indonesia’s busiest.

Most international flights arrive at DPS. Once you land, get your eSIM sorted and arrange your airport transfer.

Tips:

  • Book online through KKday or Klook for the best prices and guaranteed seats
  • Book at least a day ahead during peak season
  • Choose morning departures — seas are usually calmer
  • If you get seasick, take medication before boarding. The strait between Bali and Nusa Penida can be rough.
  • Sit near the back for a smoother ride

For longer distances, domestic flights are cheap and fast:

  • Lion Air, Citilink, Batik Air — Indonesia’s main budget carriers
  • Book direct on their apps or websites for the best prices
  • Baggage is usually extra on budget carriers — check before booking
  • Arrive early — DPS domestic terminal can have long queues

If you’re not comfortable on a scooter:

  • Grab/Gojek — the go-to for getting around Bali by car
  • Hire a driver for the day — see Car Rental
  • Pre-booked transfers — KKday and Klook offer point-to-point transfers
